Ethan

Ethan works the register at Mooney's bookstore alongside Joe, a college-age employee with a deadpan sense of humor and a scheme always simmering underneath his laid-back exterior. He's plugged into internet culture, quick with a joke, and treats the job as a low-stakes hustle rather than a calling, quietly running a side business in rare books when no one's looking.

Zach Cherry plays him with such dry, unbothered comic timing that Ethan becomes the show's pressure valve, a normal, funny person orbiting Joe's darkness without ever suspecting it. The writing uses him for levity, but Cherry gives him enough specificity and self-interest that he reads like an actual coworker, not just a punchline machine.
