Enrique "Kiki" Camarena Salazar

Kiki Camarena is a DEA agent freshly transferred to Guadalajara, restless in a sleepy border post and convinced the real fight against the drug trade is happening in Mexico. He's stubborn, idealistic, and impatient with bureaucracy, pushing into cases his superiors would rather leave alone, driven by a plain belief that the work matters.

Michael Peña plays him without a trace of self-importance, which is what sells the idealism — Kiki isn't a crusader posing for history, he's a guy who can't let go of a thread once he's pulled it. The show lets his decency read as a kind of recklessness, and Peña makes that tension feel entirely human rather than tragic foreshadowing.
