Elizabeth "Beth" Childs

Beth Childs is a police detective in visible distress, pacing a train platform as Sarah Manning watches from a distance, struck by their identical faces. She exists on screen for barely a scene, yet Tatiana Maslany makes her haunting rather than merely functional — a woman whose calm is clearly the last stage of panic. Beth is the ghost the whole series is built around, and that opening glimpse of exhaustion and secrecy does the impossible work of making her absence feel like a character in itself.
