Eleni

Eleni is an aging servant in the household of Atia of the Julii, a Greek woman versed in the old rites, herbs, and curses that polite Roman society pretends to ignore. She moves quietly through the domus, trusted precisely because she is unshowy, and put to work whenever her mistress wants something done that daylight won't cover.

Suzanne Bertish plays her with a flat, unbothered competence that makes the show's superstition feel entirely real rather than decorative — she never oversells the magic, which is what makes it unsettling. Eleni is a small role that tells you something large: Rome runs as much on whispered ritual as on senate votes.
