Elena Alves

Elena Alves is a painter and young mother whose son attends the same elite Manhattan private school as Grace Fraser's boy. She turns up at a fundraising committee meeting radiating unguarded sensuality, breastfeeding openly, unbothered by the other mothers' polish. Warm, direct, and faintly disruptive, she seems to want closeness, or attention, more than fitting in.

Matilda De Angelis plays Elena as pure disturbance in a room built on decorum, and the writing keeps her just out of focus long enough that you can't decide if she's a victim of the group's coldness or the one quietly destabilizing it. That ambiguity, held in a handful of scenes, is what makes her linger.
