Edgar Quintero

Edgar is Jimmy's roommate and unofficial caretaker, an Iraq War veteran trying to hold together a life that keeps slipping — cooking, odd jobs, community college classes — while everyone around him treats his PTSD as a punchline or an inconvenience. He's eager, anxious, generous almost to a fault, and visibly working hard to seem fine.

The show initially uses him for comic relief, and Borges plays that surface expertly — jittery, sincere, a little pathetic in an endearing way. But he keeps leaking real pain through the jokes, and Borges never lets the laugh cancel out the flinch underneath, so Edgar reads as a whole person the show's cynics keep underestimating.
