Dwayne Wayne arrives at Hillman College as the resident math genius, all flip-up sunglasses and confident patter, more comfortable proving a theorem than making small talk. He's smart, a little awkward, and quietly smitten with Whitley Gilbert, though his swagger doesn't always match his nerve when she's actually in the room.

Hardison plays the brains-and-bravado combo without ever letting the bravado curdle into smugness; you always see the effort underneath the cool. The show trusts him to be genuinely intelligent rather than just labeled that way, and lets his crush on Whitley play out with real awkwardness instead of sitcom shorthand, which is what makes him endearing rather than just clever.
