Character

Duke Shelby

Duke Shelby in Peaky Blinders (2013), played by Conrad Khan and Jamie Bell.

Duke Shelby carries the family name into a world already thick with reputation and danger. Introduced as a younger presence within the Shelby household, he watches the men around him closely, learning the codes of loyalty, violence, and ambition that define Birmingham's most notorious clan before he has fully chosen which of them he wants to become.

Casting two actors to carry him from boyhood to manhood gives the character a rare sense of accumulated weight—Conrad Khan's watchful stillness setting up whatever hardness or charm Jamie Bell brings later. It's a quiet trick of casting that lets growing up inside the Shelby name feel like its own slow-burning story.

Erasmus ‘Duke’ Shelby (née Chiriklo) also known as Rom Baro (The King of all Gypsies), is a major protagonist in Peaky Blinders franchise; he began as a minor character in Peaky Blinders's series, the co-protagonist of The Immortal Man, and he will be the main protagonist in the sequel series.
