Dr. Robert Chase

Chase is one of the junior doctors on House's diagnostic team, an Australian import with matinee-idol looks and an easy charm that masks how badly he wants his boss's approval. He is quick, capable, and a little too willing to take shortcuts or bend rules if it means staying in favor.

Spencer plays Chase's surface smoothness as a kind of camouflage, letting flickers of insecurity and moral flexibility show through the charisma. The show uses him as its most quietly compromised moral barometer, and Spencer never overplays the guilt, which makes the character's ethical drift feel earned rather than telegraphed.
