Dr. Perceptron

Dr. Perceptron appears as one of Futurama's parade of background scientists and specialists, a robot or academic figure introduced to lend expertise or absurd authority to whatever crisis the Planet Express crew has stumbled into. He speaks with the clipped confidence of someone who has read the manual nobody else bothered to open.

Maurice LaMarche can make even a single scene of technobabble land, giving a minor character like Perceptron a fussy, self-important cadence that turns exposition into a joke. It's the kind of small, disposable role that Futurama's stacked voice cast elevates far past what the script alone requires.
