Dorothy "Dot" Lyon

Dot Lyon is a cheerful, slightly frazzled wife and mother in suburban Minnesota, the kind of woman who tasers a man at a school board meeting without much fuss and then goes home to make dinner. She wants nothing more than an ordinary life. But when trouble comes to her door, she turns out to be unnervingly good at handling it.

Juno Temple plays domestic cheer and sudden competence as the same muscle, so Dot's sunny chatter and her ability to improvise a fight never feel like two different characters. The scripts keep her motives private for a long while, and Temple fills that silence with just enough flicker of something older and harder to make you lean in.
