Doofus Rick

Doofus Rick is exactly what he sounds like: a version of Rick from another dimension who never got smart, never got bitter, and never got invited to the Council of Ricks. He putters around happily, mangles simple sentences, and seems delighted by everything, including things that should worry him.

The joke is structural — every other Rick is defined by genius and contempt, so a Rick who's cheerfully stupid recontextualizes the whole multiverse premise. Roiland plays him with genuine warmth instead of just dumbing down the voice, and the show's cruelty toward him lands harder because he's so unbothered by it.
