Dog is exactly that: a canine presence wandering through the fringes of New New York, saying little (dogs don't tend to file complaints) but reacting to the chaos around Fry, Bender and the Planet Express crew with the simple, expressive body language of an animal who has clearly seen some things.

Futurama loves a throwaway gag pushed just far enough to become memorable, and Dog is that instinct in fur. John DiMaggio, already doing heavy lifting as Bender, gives the role the same commitment as his headline parts — grunts, pants and barks timed for laughs — proof the show's smallest roles get real craft.
