Director

The Director turns up wherever Futurama swings backstage into show business, barking orders on a set with the puffed-up certainty of someone convinced his production is important. He wants control — of actors, of schedules, of the vision in his head — and he wants it now, treating the Planet Express crew as inconvenient extras in his own story.

John DiMaggio, best known as Bender's growl, pivots into a different kind of bluster here: vain, brittle, easily wounded by any suggestion his genius might be questioned. The joke is in the tantrum-prone authority of a man who has never once doubted himself, and DiMaggio's delivery makes every order sound like a threat and every threat sound like a punchline.
