Dinesh Chugtai

Dinesh is one of the coder-roommates at Erlich's incubator house, working under Richard on Pied Piper's compression algorithm. Vain about his looks and his talent, he bickers constantly with fellow engineer Gilfoyle in a running battle of one-upmanship, desperate to be seen as the smarter, cooler one of the two.

The show mines endless comedy from Dinesh's fragile ego and his need to win every petty argument, and Nanjiani plays the wounded outrage of a man losing status debates with total commitment. His rivalry with Gilfoyle is deadpan and vicious in the best way, and his insecurity never stops being funny because it's so specific.
