Character
Digby
Digby in Futurama (1999), played by Maurice LaMarche.
Digby turns up as one of the many odd faces populating the wider Futurama universe, a minor player whose role is small enough that he never crowds the main cast. He speaks briefly, does his job in the scene he's given, and moves the moment along without demanding much attention.
The pleasure here is Maurice LaMarche himself, an actor whose range across the show's cast of oddballs is part of the fun of watching Futurama closely. Even a fleeting character benefits from his control, giving Digby a voice that sounds lived-in rather than thrown away.
Digby (born 1963) is Nibbler's chauffeur. On December 31, 1999, he took Nibbler to the roof of Applied Cryogenics, where Nibbler pushed Fry into the cryogenic tube. As Fry fell into it, Digby realized he forgot to lock the spaceship, so he locked it from inside the cryogenics facility, making the lock sound the last sound Fry heard before he fell into the tube.
