Diane Nguyen

Diane is a ghostwriter hired to help BoJack finish his memoir, an outsider in Hollywoo who sees through its vanity even as she gets pulled into it. Sharp, guarded, and idealistic in a way she'd deny, she's building a career and a relationship while still figuring out what she actually believes.

Alison Brie gives Diane a dry, watchful cadence that makes her the show's moral compass without ever turning her into a scold — she's just as capable of self-sabotage and delusion as anyone else in the cast. The writing lets her feminism, ambition, and depression coexist without resolving neatly, which is rarer than it sounds.
