Devon Scout-Hale

Devon is Mark's older sister, married to self-styled guru Ricken and very pregnant as the series opens. Warm, watchful, and a little exhausting in her devotion, she keeps trying to coax her withdrawn brother back into the world with dinners, advice, and unasked-for concern, unwilling to accept that he might not want saving.

Jen Tullock plays the family member every grieving person recognizes: relentlessly loving, occasionally suffocating, never quite sure if she's helping. The writing lets Devon be funny about Ricken's self-help nonsense while making her worry for Mark completely sincere, and Tullock holds both tones at once without either one curdling.
