Detective Claudette Wyms

Claudette Wyms works homicide out of the Farmington barn, and she is very good at it—patient in interrogation rooms, contemptuous of shortcuts, unimpressed by rank. She partners with the anxious Dutch Wagenbach, tolerating his theories while keeping her own counsel. Sharp-eyed and unhurried, she watches Vic Mackey's Strike Team with a suspicion she isn't yet ready to spend.

CCH Pounder plays intelligence as its own kind of authority: Claudette rarely raises her voice because she doesn't need to, and the show lets her be right without making her a saint. She's the closest thing the precinct has to a conscience, but the writing keeps her human—tired, competitive, occasionally petty—so the moral weight never feels like homework.
