Det. Sgt. Ron Nathan Harris

Harris is a detective in Manhattan's 12th Precinct, sharper-dressed than anyone else in the squad room and well aware of it. He's ambitious, sardonic, and quietly writing a novel on the side, treating the parade of oddballs and lowlifes through the station as material as much as police work. He keeps his cool no matter how chaotic the room gets.

Ron Glass plays him with a dry, unbothered elegance that makes Harris the calmest presence in a precinct built on absurdity — his arched eyebrow does more work than a punchline. The show lets his literary pretensions and fashion sense be real character traits rather than jokes at his expense, giving him a dignity that never curdles into vanity.
