Det. John Clark Jr.

John Clark Jr. arrives at the 15th precinct as a young, polished detective eager to make his mark, partnering with Andy Sipowicz in the squad's later years. Confident and by-the-book, he carries the shadow of his father, a retired cop whose reputation is far from clean, and works hard to be judged on his own record.

Gosselaar plays him with a controlled, almost buttoned-up intensity that contrasts nicely with the grizzled weariness around him, giving the late-run NYPD Blue a fresh generational friction. The character's inherited baggage gives every case a quiet undertow, and the performance never overplays the tension between ambition and inheritance.
