Desi

Desi is a musician who partners with Marnie for a folk act, all soulful eye contact and acoustic guitar. He is warm, complimentary, and seems entirely sincere about everything he says, which makes him magnetic and slightly hard to trust. He wants harmony, onstage and off, and he wants it badly.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays sincerity as a kind of performance you can never quite catch him at, which is the whole joke and the whole unease of the character. Desi means every word in the moment he says it, and the show lets that be charming before it lets you notice how convenient that is for him.
