Desert Muck Leech is one of the countless odd creatures glimpsed in Futurama's sprawling universe of alien life, a small, slimy presence introduced without fanfare or grand purpose. It exists in its environment doing exactly what its name suggests, indifferent to the human-adjacent drama unfolding around it.

Billy West's gift for filling out Futurama's margins is on display here: even a creature this minor gets a distinct texture of voice, a squelch of personality that makes the universe feel inhabited rather than empty. It's a tiny piece of the show's larger joke that every inch of space is crawling with something absurd.
