Deputy Fiddle

Deputy Fiddle turns up as one of Futurama's background lawmen, the kind of badge-wearing minor official who appears just long enough to enforce a rule, block a doorway, or add friction to whatever scheme the crew is running. He's brisk, procedural, and entirely unbothered by how absurd his jurisdiction actually is.

Maurice LaMarche can make a single line of officious dialogue sound like it belongs to someone with a whole life off-screen, and that's the trick here: a nothing role delivered with total conviction. The joke isn't the deputy himself but the deadpan authority LaMarche brings to a character who barely needs to exist.
