Deputy Archie "The Ferg" Ferguson

The Ferg is the junior deputy of the Absaroka County Sheriff's department, eager to prove himself under Walt Longmire and Vic Moretti. He's earnest, a little awkward, and quick to volunteer for grunt work, hoping competence and loyalty will earn him respect he doesn't yet feel he's been given.

Adam Bartley plays him as sincerely uncool rather than a punchline, which keeps the character sympathetic even when the show uses him for comic relief. His nervous diligence gives the procedural scenes a human texture, and his slow-earned competence over time makes him one of the show's quieter, steadier pleasures.
