Dean

Dean is a local of Mapleton who corners Kevin Garvey with talk of the feral dogs overrunning the town, insisting the animals have changed since the Departure and need to be put down. He is intense, persuasive, and a little unhinged, treating dog-hunting as a mission rather than a chore.

Michael Gaston plays him with a wild-eyed conviction that never tips into cartoon, so his paranoid theory about the dogs lands as unsettling rather than silly. He becomes a mirror for Kevin's own fraying grip on reality, a stranger whose madness might just be clarity in a town where nothing makes sense anymore.
