Davos Seaworth

A smuggler knighted for smuggling, Davos comes to Stannis Baratheon's cause as a man who owes the king his fingers and his loyalty in equal measure. He's low-born among lords, blunt where others scheme, and carries a pouch of finger bones as a reminder of the price of service. He wants his king to win, and to win honestly.

Liam Cunningham plays plain speech as its own kind of authority, a gruff decency that never curdles into naivety. The show uses him as the conscience inside a camp of zealots and schemers, the one man asking whether the ends being pursued are worth what they cost. He's the moral ballast the whole storyline needs.
