Daryl Dixon

Daryl arrives as a hostile loner, more comfortable with his crossbow than with people, quick to snarl and quicker to disappear into the woods alone. He's suspicious of the group, defensive about his family name, and seems built to be trouble — a redneck stereotype with a short fuse and no patience for weakness.

The show does something rare: it lets a minor, unlikeable archetype become its emotional center through accumulated small choices rather than a single speech. Reedus plays Daryl's decency as something he's embarrassed by, all flinch and mumble, so every act of loyalty lands like a confession he didn't mean to make.
