Darth Sploder

Darth Sploder turns up as one of the countless throwaway aliens and background gags that populate the Futurama universe, a mock-menacing name dropped into a crowd shot or a single line of dialogue rather than a character with a plotline. Whatever scene finds them, they exist for a quick joke, not a journey.

The pleasure here is Tress MacNeille's range doing the work: she voices dozens of Futurama's one-off oddities, and a name like this is built entirely for a laugh, a Star Wars pun landing and vanishing. It's a small piece of the show's density, rewarding attention rather than demanding it.
