Daphne Moon Crane

Daphne Moon arrives in Seattle as Martin Crane's live-in physical therapist, a chatty Manchester transplant with a gift for blunt kindness and an odd habit of claiming psychic premonitions. She's warm, unpretentious, and instantly more comfortable in the Crane household's chaos than either son, treating crotchety Martin with a mix of bossiness and genuine affection.

Jane Leeves plays Daphne's eccentricity utterly straight, which makes the psychic bits and family lore feel like real texture rather than a bit. She's the show's grounding presence — working-class, unimpressed by Frasier and Niles's fussiness — and that contrast, played with total sincerity, gives the whole ensemble somewhere to land.
