Daniel Desario

Daniel is the leader of the freaks, the good-looking burnout with a leather jacket and a sneer he's never quite earned. He fails classes on purpose, mocks authority reflexively, and drifts through McKinley High with a girlfriend, Kim, and a gang of followers who take their cues from him. Underneath the swagger, he's coasting.

Franco plays cool as a performance the character is barely holding together, letting cracks show in small, unglamorous moments — a flash of panic, a flicker of shame — that the writing never rushes to explain. Daniel could be a stock burnout, but the show keeps finding the scared kid underneath the pose, and Franco never overplays it.
