Damon Beesley turns up as one of the jobbing actors and hangers-on who drift through the film and TV sets of Extras, angling for a better line, a bigger credit, a foot further up the ladder. He is polite to the right people and sharp-elbowed the moment the cameras roll.

Martin Savage plays him with the show's signature deadpan, treating naked self-interest as ordinary professional courtesy. The joke isn't that he's ruthless — it's that everyone around him is doing the same thing, more or less as politely, which is exactly the world Extras is built to expose.
