Dale Horvath

Dale is the older man who owns the RV that becomes the group's mobile anchor, and he takes it upon himself to be the camp's conscience. He watches from the roof with a rifle and a wide-brimmed hat, quick to lecture and slow to trust, worried mostly that decency will be the first casualty of survival.

DeMunn plays him without a trace of condescension, so his moralizing never curdles into preachiness — he's genuinely wrestling with what people owe each other when the world stops enforcing it. In a show built on brutal pragmatism, Dale is the stubborn, fussy insistence that surviving isn't the same as staying human.
