Character
Daisy Robinson
Daisy Robinson in Downton Abbey (2010), played by Sophie McShera.
Daisy is the youngest kitchen maid at Downton, forever being shouted at by Mrs. Patmore and run off her feet with chores she barely understands. She's shy, easily flustered, and eager to please everyone above her in the household pecking order, from the cook to the footman she's quietly sweet on.
Sophie McShera plays Daisy's timidity without making her merely pathetic; there's a flicker of curiosity and backbone under the nervousness that suggests she'll outgrow her station before she outgrows her fear of it. The writing uses her as the audience's eyes belowstairs, and McShera makes that vantage point feel lived-in rather than functional.
Daisy Parker (née Robinson, previously Mason), known mostly as just Daisy for most of Downton Abbey, is a Cook (formerly assistant cook and kitchen maid) at Downton Abbey and the widow of William Mason. She lives under the strict but caring eye of Mrs Patmore, the cook. Daisy was usually seen in a light pink dress while being a kitchen maid. She later wore grey when she was promoted to kitchen assistant.
