In the 31st century, celebrity heads are preserved in jars at the Head Museum, wheeled out for gags, cameos, and the occasional guest appearance on panel shows. Cyndi Lauper's head is one of these relics of 20th-century pop culture, bobbing along in her jar, a punchline more than a person, existing mostly to remind viewers how far the future has drifted from the present.

The joke is the premise itself: an '80s icon reduced to a talking head in a jar, still vaguely herself, still turning up in the background of a world that has otherwise moved on completely. Futurama's gift for tossing off absurd worldbuilding details pays off in glimpses like this, and Lauren Tom's voice work gives even a jar-bound cameo a flicker of real personality.
