Curly

Curly works the stables for the Shelby family, more at ease with horses than with people. He speaks plainly, sometimes strangely, missing the social cues others rely on, but around animals he is calm and sure. Loyal without needing to be asked, he does what's put in front of him and asks little in return.

He's a small pocket of gentleness inside a violent world, and the show trusts him enough not to make him a joke. Ian Peck plays the odd rhythms of his speech and stillness with total sincerity, so scenes with Curly slow down and breathe — a strange, welcome relief from the Shelbys' schemes.
