Creed Bratton

Creed drifts through Dunder Mifflin's quality control desk doing, as far as anyone can tell, nothing. He's ancient, unbothered, vaguely criminal in ways nobody investigates, and answers every question with a non sequitur delivered as though it were obvious. He wants very little from the office beyond a paycheck and a place to nap.

The joke is that Creed clearly has a whole strange life happening off-camera, and the show only ever gives you the disorienting edges of it. Bratton, playing a version of himself, commits with total deadpan sincerity, so the character's lies and non-answers land as flatly funny rather than cartoonish. He steals scenes by seeming barely present in them.
