Crack Addict

Crack Addict in Futurama (1999), played by John DiMaggio.

Crack Addict flickers through the crowded background of New New York, one more bit of local color in Futurama's grimy future-noir skyline. He's not a player in anyone's plot—just a passerby, a punchline glimpsed on a street corner, existing for a beat before the story moves on to bigger business.

The joke is entirely in the economy: a name, a glimpse, gone. John DiMaggio's voice work turns even a throwaway walk-on into something with texture, giving Futurama's world the sense that every corner of it is populated by someone with a whole grubby little life happening just offscreen.

The Crack addict is a person, possibly homeless, who is addicted to crack. He went to the Crack mansion when he got his $300 tax refund. He is seen doing a drug deal for more crack. He is first seen trying to get crack out of a crack machine.
