Cpt. Dave "Captain America" McGraw

Captain America is a company officer riding into Iraq eager to prove himself in combat, saluting the war with a gung-ho enthusiasm the veteran Marines around him find alarming rather than reassuring. He follows procedure to the letter, hungers for a fight, and seems to have arrived expecting glory rather than the mess actually in front of him.

He's the show's sharpest joke about institutional zeal colliding with reality: earnest, rule-bound, and utterly out of step with the grunts' weary professionalism. Eric Nenninger plays the eagerness completely straight, never winking at the audience, which makes the gap between his enthusiasm and the Marines' eye-rolling exhaustion land as both comic and quietly damning.
