Cpl. Anthony "Manimal" Jacks

Manimal is a machine gunner riding with the platoon into Iraq, a big, physically imposing Marine whose nickname says most of what you need to know before he opens his mouth. He is loud, unruly, and seems to relish the war's chaos more openly than the men around him, treating discomfort and danger as something to laugh through rather than endure.

Rich McDonald plays him as pure appetite in a show otherwise built on dry, exhausted wit, and the contrast is the joke and the point: amid so much restrained gallows humor, Manimal is unrestrained, a reminder that this machine runs on young men who genuinely want to be here for the violence of it.
