Colonel John Casey

Colonel Casey is the NSA's man on the ground in Burbank, hiding in plain sight as a gruff Buy More employee while actually watching Chuck Bartowski's every move. He is blunt, humorless, and armed to a degree wildly disproportionate to retail work, treating his cover job with visible contempt and his real mission with lethal seriousness.

Adam Baldwin plays him as a walking punchline who never once seems in on the joke, and that commitment is the engine: the deadpan delivery, the barely restrained violence, the utter disdain for civilian nonsense. He's the show's straight man dropped into a sitcom, and the gap between his intensity and his surroundings is where the comedy lives.
