The joke is entirely in the mismatch: Maurice LaMarche, a voice built for gravitas, pouring that same weight into a piece of civic machinery. Futurama thrives on treating the mundane with self-important scale, and a talking van delivered with total sincerity is exactly the kind of throwaway bit that rewards paying attention.
