Child at Recital

A small background figure glimpsed at a recital, the kind of walk-on Futurama likes to toss off mid-scene for a laugh. She has a moment, maybe a line, maybe just a face pulled at the wrong time, before the show moves on to whatever absurd crisis is actually the point.

Tress MacNeille is one of animation's great utility voices, and even a throwaway kid gets a fully formed little squawk of personality from her. Futurama's world feels dense partly because of bits like this — a joke that costs nothing but still lands, voiced with total commitment.
