Charlie Young

Charlie Young arrives at the White House as a young man looking for steady work, recently orphaned and guarded about it. He interviews for what he thinks is a low-level post and finds himself being considered as the President's personal aide, a job that puts him closer to power than he expected or particularly wanted.

Dulé Hill plays Charlie with a watchfulness that never curdles into resentment, even when the show makes him confront, directly, what it means for a young Black man to take this particular job in this particular building. He's composed under scrutiny, quick without being glib, and the writing trusts him to carry real weight quietly.
