Charlie Telphy

Charlie is Dre's coworker at the ad agency, a genial oddball whose stories never quite add up and whose grasp of basic facts is charmingly unreliable. He drifts into scenes with a strange anecdote or a wildly off-base observation, seemingly untroubled by logic, plausibility, or the reactions of anyone around him.

Deon Cole treats every absurd line with total sincerity, which is the joke — Charlie never signals that he knows he's being ridiculous. The writing hands him non sequiturs that could fall flat, but Cole's deadpan commitment turns them into some of the show's biggest laughs, a reliable jolt of chaos in otherwise grounded family scenes.
