Charles de Gaulle's Head

A preserved head in a jar in the year 3000, kept alive along with countless other historical and celebrity figures whose bodies have long since gone. He turns up in committee scenes and bureaucratic gatherings, dry, imperious, and utterly unbothered by his reduced circumstances.

Futurama's head-in-a-jar gag is funniest in its smallest doses, and de Gaulle is one of its driest punchlines: a towering historical ego reduced to a glass container and a seat on some minor panel. Maurice LaMarche plays him with clipped, aristocratic disdain, treating eternal indignity as beneath comment.
