Centipede Alien is one of the countless background creatures populating the seedier corners of New New York, a many-legged extra glimpsed in the crowd scenes and bar shots that make Futurama's universe feel lived-in. He doesn't drive plots; he's texture, part of the joke that the 31st century is full of weird, ordinary people just getting by.

The gag here is casting: John DiMaggio, already doing heavy lifting as Bender, tosses off a growl or grunt for a many-legged nobody and it barely registers as the same actor.
