Cary Loudermilk

Cary Loudermilk is a scientist at Summerland, the underground refuge trying to help David Haller control his powers. Precise, curious, and endlessly patient, he tinkers with strange machines and stranger problems. He shares his body with Kerry, a fierce young fighter who steps out of him when things turn physical — a bond he treats as ordinary as breathing.

Bill Irwin, a trained clown and physical performer, gives Cary a body language unlike anyone else on television — fussy, precise, oddly tender. Legion's sci-fi premise could make the Cary-Kerry arrangement gimmicky, but Irwin plays it with such unshowy sincerity that it becomes the show's warmest relationship, a quiet anchor amid all the visual chaos.
