Character
Carro Rylanz
Carro Rylanz in Andor (2022), played by Richard Sammel.
Carro Rylanz moves through Andor's world of quiet menace and grinding bureaucracy as one of the Empire's functionaries — a man who carries authority the way a uniform carries a person, with clipped efficiency and no particular hurry to explain himself. He appears interested chiefly in order, and in being obeyed.
Richard Sammel has built a career on men who are frightening precisely because they are unhurried, and Andor gives him the same material: institutional menace delivered in a flat, patient register. The show rarely needs raised voices to unsettle, and Sammel's stillness — that sense of banal, procedural cruelty — fits its texture exactly.
Carro Rylanz was a human male Ghorman businessman and elected official on the planet Ghorman. A respected Palmo city official, he presided over town halls, discussing the Imperial occupation of the planet, and made levelheaded pleas for calm de-escalation. In truth, by 3 BBY, he was the leader of an emerging rebel group known as the Ghorman Front, in which his daughter Enza Rylanz was also a central figure.
