Captain John Francis Xavier "Trapper" McIntyre

Trapper John is a surgeon at the 4077th MASH unit during the Korean War, Hawkeye's tent-mate, partner in crime, and closest friend. He drinks, chases nurses, breaks rules, and mocks military rigidity with equal enthusiasm, all while proving himself a genuinely gifted doctor when the wounded start arriving.

Wayne Rogers plays Trapper with an easy, unforced charm that makes his friendship with Hawkeye feel like something real rather than a comedy pairing bolted together for laughs. He's just as sharp-tongued and anti-authority as his partner, but there's a warmth and steadiness underneath the wisecracks that keeps him human amid the war's absurdity.
